98 days!

Omg guys we are already in the double digits in our countdown~! Awesome! I am semi stressed out because there are several things that I have to do that I have not completed yet. We should be sending out our invitations next month. They are my DIY project; however I have not even gone a quarter way with them eek! help! I dont have a florist yet although i have one in mind. I am hoping to tie yup a lot of loose ends between this and next month so I could have a semi restful month of february before the wedding.

The search is over

This past Saturday, my bridesmaids and I went to try on the dress I had picked and also placed an order for it. The sales lady who attended to us was soo rude and out of place to me; I was about to slap her. She had the guts to tell me that she was going to give me a hard time because I was being mean to my bridesmaids (which i clearly was not...); I had to put her in her place, because firstly I came to ur store to spend money, so you better give me a good customer service. I think she realized that the bridesmaids that she was supposedly trying to defend were also put off with her attitude... sheesh smh. Anyhoo, after so long a letter, we have finally purchased a bridesmaid dress that fit each bridesmaid very well and brings out their figure. It also complements my dress very well; I cant wait to see how everything will turn out eventually. Yay!

I have not blogged in a minute so I am going to give updates on what I have been up to.

Bridal gown: I went a couple weeks ago with my mom, sister and BFF (;-) to try on my choice for my gown. I wanted to try more dresses before trying "the dress"; needless to say that it was a waste of time because every dress i tried on did not compare to " the dress". As soon as I put it on, I fell in love with it all over again; it is not a style that I would have gone for but it fits me like a glove and makes me look and feel fabulous. So long story short... I ordered "the dress"; it is scheduled to come in February and the wedding is in March. I am praying it comes early enough so I have time for alterations. Thank God i have this checked off my task list yay!

Bridesmaid dresses: So I and one of my bridesmaid went to go look for dresses; and i decided on two that I really like. My dilema now is should i pick a dress that is cute and fun and looks nothing like my dress (so I stand out more!!!) or should i pick a dress that is elegant and similar to my dress. I like both dresses and I am still yet to make a choice on which one to choose. My goal is to have this done by the end of october so the dresses can come in January.

I found my dress!!!

Yes Yes Yes; after so many hours and days and months spent magazine shopping; i finally decided to make my way into a bridal store to go try on dresses. Yes I went there with a budget in mind, but as soon as I tried on THE dress; I really did not care h0w much it was (well maybe I did; but the price was reasonable). Sooo I found my dress and I know it is beautiful!

On saturday, I will be taking my family to my final fitting before actually purchasing the dress :-) should be fun!

bridesmaids

Yay! after so long a letter and soo much uphills and downhills and molehills and wutever hills; i think i may have found the perfect bridesmaid dress to complement the wedding. The color is perfect. The design is non traditional. The dress is a perfect mix of classy yet fun; modern yet vintage..lol. I love it, chimdi loves it and I know my bridesmaids will love it. And if they dont... too bad.. I dont Care lol (bridezilla on the loose).

Wedding Nightmare

Soo yesterday, I was working on sending out the save the dates with one of my bridesmaids when the craziest thought flashed through my mind! For some strange reason, I started to imagine that something had gone wrong with our wedding venue, and my deposit for the date got cancelled. I was so panicked, that I proceeded to call the venue to make sure they still had me down for that date, which they did. Thank God... Lol..

As if that scare was not enough... I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamt that we forgot to book a florist for the wedding day. We did not have any flowers for the bouquets or center pieces. To crown it all, my sister hand picked flowers from where I dont know. The flowers looked so dead..it was horrible. I tried and tried to see if I could get the centerpieces and flowers last minute but everytime I tried to type flowers on my computer it would not let me ( you know how that only happens in ones dreams..waa).

Anyways I think Im stressing too much anyhoo.. ttyl..

"Bride for a day; Wife for ever"

I think it is interesting how much time and effort goes into the planning of a wedding. When it comes down to the nitty gritty all that really matters is the fact that your marriage is blessed by a pastor in front of a community of witnesses. The rest of everything that happens that day is just a ceremony not and not really necessary. Does that remove my desire to still have the ceremony... nope! I want the ceremony more than anything. However one thing that I have come to terms with is that I should devote twice the amount of time I spend planning my wedding to plan for my marriage to Chimdi.

Sometimes when I think about it; it scares me. Two different individuals with different personalities; living together for a life time. Chimdi and I are reading a book called "I married you" by Walter Trobisch. It is a very interesting read surprisingly. I will be talking about what I am learning in this book with you all while I also keep you updated about our wedding plans.

A glimpse into our shoot

I am very excited to write this post. So as you all know, I shared with you that we were going to be taking our engagement pictures this weekend. We did. It was a two day shoot with our fabulous photographer! I want to give a shout out to Kola Shobo of Kay S Jay Photography! you are really awesome! He was very attentive to us and patient. He was not worried about how much time he spent with us; all he was concerned about was that we got beautiful pictures ( i dont know if that sentence made sense but oh well). I promised to share some pictures and I will.

DIY projects

Soo today I was working on my invitation cards with Linda (bridesmaid) and Chinny (lol).. They are coming along very well... I am soo happy. Everything is coming along well..

Our engagement pictures was rescheduled from the previous date, but we are shooting again this weekend and I am supper stoked. Our outfits are ready, my hair is did, my nails need to be done, we are ready for our fabulous photographer to take haute pictures of us yay!

Asoebi madness part II

Hey peoples!!! its being a while since I blogged... I have just been busy taking care of certain details for the upcoming wedding. One of the things that i have been working on is getting the asoebi. It proved to be a very tedious and frustrating task. One week I would find a good pattern and color fabric, when I go back to buy it the next week, its no more... Finally Finally, I decided one day that I was just going to go to the store and purchase in bulk whatever fabric I found and liked. Fortunately for me, I found the ones that I liked and bought them..

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Ajisafe!

I was in memphis tennessee for my friends wedding this weekend. i was in the city of german town. It was soo green! nature at its best. there were trees everywhere. In los angeles you would pay big bucks to do your wedding in a location that had lots of trees and green grass. In memphis all you had to do was pick a random park or hijack someones backyard! I had a good time while I was there.

Anyhoo back to my friends wedding. It was soooo beautiful. It was exciting to be there, with all her friends and family who travelled from all over the state. there were a lot of young people there. Thats what i absoulutely love about young people getting married, there are lots of fishes to choose from if one were single! lol. The church ceremony was very nice, the worship was the bomb diggy, the sermon was very very on point. I mean the preacher preached!. The whole ceremony was very organized, love was definitely in the air... I couldnt help but imagine myself in my friends position fast foward six months! ~yay~!

I took lots of pictures and stole lots of ideas! thanks titi! lol

Asoebi Madness!!!

SIX MONTHS to the wedding.. so many things to do.

This month brought along with it so many changes for myself and chimdi. However we know that God is in control and he will direct us to his desired end!

Lately, I have being on the asoebi hunt. What colors to get, what colors will pop, which colors compliment each other, family asoebi, friends asoebi, engagement asoebi, and so on.. its countless. Asoebi will not kill us in Jesus Name Amen oh te he.

Question for the day: How many asoebi groups should a wedding have? I have also been looking at prospective styles for asoebis's.. Bella Naija . com has being my go to place for this. I have come across sooo many beautiful styles that I will be using...

I noticed a new trend in asoebi material. most people are doing the indian lace fabric rather than the regular ankara fabric.. I Love Love Love indian lace.. its gorgy!

Invitations!

So i finished the sample invitations cards and they look gorgeous!!! yay! Next step is to begin mass production and send them out! awesome.. Ill post a picture when I send the invites out so look out for this! its awesome! lol

Everything is coming together

Hello peeps! being a while.. i forgot i had a blog for a minute there...

I have been very busy over the past couple of weeks trying to get things rolling with all the wedding plans. I am excited to say that things are coming along very well. We have being in touch with almost all the vendors that will be participating in the wedding.

Our photographer is on another level... he is young and very talented and I am confident that he would do an excellent job...The MC is WOW...u have to be there to understand what I am talking about.

I was watching bridezilla the other day and after all the hard work that this one bride put in (or not) in planning the wedding reception, people started leaving really early.. there were only about 20 people left at the wedding at about 8pm.. That sucked. This got me thinking..

what if people dont show up... and if they do.. how can I make sure they stay to the very end...

Of course I know that we are nigerians and where there is food and music there would be people. but .. u never know right???? waaa anyway i shall only think positive thots

jumbled thots

Hey guys,
I cant believe we only have seven months until the wedding... so by this time next year I will be a MRS.. uuuuunnnnnbelievable!!!! Anyhoo... I am so excited.
Like i said in my last post, I am working on several DIY projects. I just finished a sample of one of those projects and it is BEAUTIFUL.. i cant wait to go into full production.

I have set a goal of august 30th to accomplish several tasks that are hanging such as: the invites, save the dates, our engagement shoot, the website etc.. i just want to know that i am finished with these so I could focus on other things.

i got in touch with our awesome photographer yesterday and so hopefully we shoud be shooting the pictures in august in a beautiful undisclosed location..lol..te he. That should be fun...

I found two beautiful ankara fabrics for the wedding, I need one more..still looking waa..

I am soo sorry if it is hard to read this post because it is all over the place.. thats kinda how my mind is at the moment...all over ze place.

DIY projects

Although Chimdi and I would love to have an elaborate platinum style wedding.. the truth is that we dont have that kind of money to spend frivolously (we accept donations however from our guests who would love to make this happen lol) j/k..

I have being looking at some "Do it yourself" (DIY) projects to undertake for the wedding. And I have come across several. Yesterday, my sister and I went to down town and I randomly picked up peacock feathers because i figured I could incorporate them into something other than as a hair piece..

I came across something today and i think i may use it.. This lady made hers into a pencil...i may use this for my guest book...look out for it.. Ill make sure to share as to how the process went!

Wedding day dreams

I read about these phenomenons in several bridal magazines, however it was not until recently that i started to experience them for myself.

Once a week, I have these dreams about getting married but it is not the typical happy wedding, its one in which everything possible could go wrong. The worst one I had was a couple weeks ago. I dreamt that I was convinced to get married on a day that wasnt the day we had being planning for all along. All the plans we made went to the gutter, and to top it all off we were getting married in a barn. (EEEk!!). The bridal gown I had on, had stains all over it and I could not get it off... it was a nightmare. I remember just crying and crying about how this was not how I wanted my wedding to be like and all that... then I woke up Thank God.

So what sparked up this discussion about wedding day dreams you may ask???? Well Ill tell you the answer! I had another of these dreams yesterday night!!! waa!!! for the life o fme I cant seem to remember what it was about but Ill be sure to share when I do..

Picking a bridesmaid dress has turned into more work than I envisioned and thats all I am going to say about that. Wa

Progress

So...since the last time I have blogged. I have made a lot of progress. Last week, I went to several bridesmaid stores with a couple of my bridesmaids. We were looking for a dress we found on dessy group..it was a really nice dress but I had a problem with the length. It was tea length and just awkward; however I liked the style. Another problem with this dress was that we probably would have had to alter the length to make it shorter which would mean more money.

Oh yah, I should firstly say that we had a budget for the bridesmaid dress and it is between $100-$150

Okay moving on, we were in between several dresses and after visiting several stores and sending several emails and receiving unending differing opinions from the BMs; I was very exhausted and frustrated with the whole process.

This week we went bridesmaid shopping at Mary me bridal in orange... Needless to say that the first two dresses that we tried on were just awesome. My bridesmaids fell in love with both of them, however the prices were a bit out of our budget (well maybe a lot! waa)...

I am very happy with the choices that I ended up making in regards to the dress my bridesmaids will be wearing and i know they will be looking GORGEOUS on that day! Yay!

So what did I learn this week:

1. Shopping for bridesmaid dresses is no joke

2. Bridal democracy is good but its OK to be a dictator as well!!!! (lol)

Just had to put that as my title.. I know i havent blogged in two days so I have a lot to tell you all... However Im at work right now so Ill blog later tonight..

I went out looking for bridesmaid dresses about three times this week.. its being very tedious..

I was not able to write down the task list but I did it mentally in my head (does that count? huh chioma!) Anyways, what I did accomplish yesterday was finding a prospective bridesmaid dress and complementing shoes (lol). I was also able to get a quote from a caterer for our food.

I was in long beach with one of my friends (and bridesmaid) for most of yesterday, I spent the other half of the day in traffic on my way home waaaa... Anyhoo.. when I got home, I emailed the bridesmaids the dress I had found and then my friend that I had met up with emailed me saying how sorry she was for not helping or what not...

Apparently she stumbled across a link that listed what the duties of a bridesmaid and a "CBM" were... It was hilarious!!!! Thank you Jessica! I forwarded this email to all my bridesmaid just to let them know that they were all slacking in their duties as BMs

Side Note: I figured that I will be writing bridesmaid and chief bridesmaid a lot in this blog, so i have decided to go by an acronym as you can see.. Unfortunately for the "BM" (maids), "BM" can also mean Bowel Movement.. just wanted to point that out. Love you guys!! lol.. so I wonder if CBM means Chief B***el M*****nt (sorry Ugochi) lol...

I came to the conclusion yesterday that I may very well be the laziest bride in Los Angeles ( well I cant validate that). Sooo I resolved within myself to not be lazy anymore.. lol. I decided to put together a task list of things that I need to get done either by myself or by delegation. Thats my plan for today.. I let you all know how that went later on today...

Finding the right fit!

Of course like every other woman and potential bride, I already knew what dress I wanted to wear on my wedding that.. this was before I was engaged or rather before I bought my VERY FIRST bridal magazine "Bridal Guide"

The very first dress that caught my eye was a Rosa Clara dress.. it was over the top cinderella- ish but I loved it. Picture is to your right- its beautiful right? So what did I like about this dress? question is what didnt I like? I liked the fact that there were flower petals on the one hand part of the dress.. i also like that it wasnt like a regular ball gown (puffs up from the waist..eww).. it was fitting all the way to the hip and the goes crazy!!!

I decided to google this designer, I went on her website and was disappointed to find out that there were no listed prices (This was the first of many disappointments in regards to listed prices, the bridal gown designers do not list their prices, the rental places do not list their prices.... why does everything have to be a secret!!!! please its a free world!! list your prices people!!!) Anywho... being a resourseful bride, I decided to google the prices and I was getting prices within the ranges of 3,000 to 5,000 waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy beyond my budget and then some...

Oh BTW my budget for my gown is $0.000 to $1,500.. Im accepting donations as well ;-)

Back to the dress, I still like it but Im not willing to spend that money.. I have found other dresses that I absoulutely like.. I have aonly being to two bridal stores so far: Alfred Angelo and Davids Bridal (DO NOT GO THERE...EVER!!! CAN U SPELL S-U-C-K-S.. sorry david?). I will post up pictures of some of the gowns that I tried in these stores... (I will not post the gowns that I may get...maybe a little bit closer to the date..ill think about it)

10 months....

So i have 10 months remaining until z day and I am stressing out kinda... Well to bring you all up to speed on how far I have come in planning...

1. I found a place and it is beautiful..it is the diamond bar center in the city of diamond bar.

2. I have a wedding planner ( well almost, I havent signed a contract yet but pretty close)

3. I also have a photographer for our engagement photo session.

Well thats about it. I have an idea of what I want in the wedding.. I just need to go out and start acquiring these things. Yelp!

Its soo hard planning a wedding. When you get engaged, you have all these people who say "oh yah..ill help you, lets go look at dresses, lets go look at this or that" but when it actually gets down to it, no body wants to go.... any hoo thats another story for another post... waaaaaaa
